Hinterland

A holiday in Duna Verde also offers the possibility to discover the region Venetia and fascinating places which are rich in history, culture, and traditions.

The Venetian hinterland is crossed by the river Piave, a national symbol for the events of the First World War. The hinterland can be explored along the beautiful cycle path.

During the First World War, the famous Nobel Prize Ernest Hemingway was wounded in Fossalta di Piave, and he often returned to Venice after the end of the war to go fishing and hunting in the valleys of San Gaetano and in the lagoon of Caorle, which we recommend. We suggest to visit the characteristic Casoni, typical wood houses of the families of fishermen.

The river crosses the city San Donà di Piave, an important center for agriculture, trade, and national recultivation, and the nearby Noventa di Piave where there is a huge fashion Outlet for those who love shopping.

However, summer is also a walk under the stars, music, and entertainment. Who loves nightlife may have fun in the clubs, pubs, and discos in the near Caorle or Jesolo, one of the most important seaside resorts of the region Veneto.

Furthermore, you can reach Treviso in approximately only one hour’s drive with the car from Hotel Playa Blanca. The heart of the city and the meeting point of the Trevigiani is the Piazza dei Signori with the Palazzo dei Trecento and the elegant Loggia Dei Cavalieri.

The two rivers Sile and Cagnan flow through the city and give the historical center which is surrounded by old walls a unique charm. The Porticoed houses with the beautiful frescoed facades which reflect in the Buranelli canal and the Isola della Pescheria which was created in the river Cagnan for the fish market, illustrate the close connection of Treviso with the water.

A proposal which we make to everybody is also the discovery of the many vineyards in the surroundings, in which you can taste the best wines of the regions Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia (from Prosecco to Raboso, from Friulano to Pinot), as well as traditional food of the Venetian cuisine. From dishes with sea food and radicchio over meat and poultry, up to regional cheese and sweet tiramisu, you will find all specialties.
